Elders

MONTIE RALSTIN
Lead Elder/Pastor

Montie has served the body of BVCC in this role since 1987 and has been a committed disciple for more than 30 years. Montie was saved at a First Presbyterian Church service during an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. He was presented with the Gospel message at that time and committed his life to the Lord.

He and his wife, Ann, were drawn to BVCC in the beginning because the gifts of the Holy Spirit were as evident then as they are today and signs and wonders were commonplace. Many friendships were born in those early days that still remain as close today as when they were formed.

One of Montie's greatest passions is serving and ministering in the Boise community. He acts as a co-convener for the Mission America Northwest Community Impact Roundtable that seeks to share what works within the community and how they spread the Gospel locally to places across the country. He is the president of the Christian Churches Association in the Treasure Valley and serves on their Vision Team with other local pastors. He also is the vice-chairman of Treasure Valley Festivals. Their mission statement is "proclaiming Christ through events and service" and the TVF team is responsible for bringing Luis Palau and Josh McDowell to the Boise area.

Montie originally graduated from University of Idaho with a Business Administration degree and owned and operated two commercial building construction companies. He served as President of the Idaho Branch of the Associated General Contractors and is an Honorary Lifetime member of that association. He was called to the ministry in 1987. He then received his Masters of Ministry degree at Northwest Nazarene University in 1996.

Montie loves spending time with his family, and being outdoors where he pursues fly fishing, hunting, and other activities. He also enjoys building things due to his earlier days and has been actively involved in the Boys Scouts of America for over 50 years.

SCOTT NELSON
Elder/Pastor

Scott Nelson has been an Elder and Pastor at BVCC since 1990. He oversees the ministries of Local Outreach, Missions, and works with our leaders of Growth Groups, Life Groups and Change Groups. Although Scott has been dedicated to this church body since 1990, he started his full time ministry in 1984. Having been raised in a Lutheran home, he grew up knowing and believing in Jesus. He made his proclamation of faith in July of 1973 when some Junior High friends explained what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Scott was never the same!

After serving as a Youth Pastor in Ontario, Oregon for four years Scott became Pastor of Nyssa Chrisatian Church. During that time he and his wife Diana (who grew up attending First Presbyterian Church of Boise and BVCC) were looking to adopt a child and had meetings with Montie Ralstin about a possible adoption in Boise. The adoption fell through but their hearts were linked together and a ministry position opened up at BVCC and Scott and Diana became a vital part of this body!

Scott graduated from Northwest College in Kirkland, Washington in 1981 with a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Literature and a minor in Pastoral Counseling. In 1989 he received his Master's in Counseling from College of Idaho.

Scott has found his "hobby of choice"… dual sport motorcycling! He likes to refer to it as "wind therapy"! He enjoys taking off into the mountains for rides and also likes to tinker with his motorcycles. He is also a certified scuba diver and loves family vacations with his wife and two teenagers, Lindsey and Travis.

DENNIS ANDERSON
Elder/Pastor

Dennis is a founding Elder/Pastor at BVCC, and has served in that ministry since 1976. After a spiritual journey that lasted about a year, Dennis confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in June 1964. He was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1966. Although his spiritual gifts spread across the board, Dennis particularly enjoys teaching and speaking.

Dennis and his wife, Jeannie, grew up in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado, and both graduated from Colorado State University. Dennis has a Master's degree in Business, and Jeannie completed her Master's degree at Boise State University. After college they lived in Cincinnati, OH for four years, and then moved to Boise in 1974. Here God called them to serve and worship at Christian Communion.

Dennis is an insurance agency owner/agent by trade, and Jeannie loves math and kids, and teaches high school math and AP statistics. In his spare time Dennis loves to read, walk in the hills with his Chocolate Labrador, "Moki". Dennis is an avid sports fan, and especially enjoys following BSU's football and basketball teams. Something most people do not know about him--he could listen to bluegrass music all day long!

DANIEL WILMOT
Elder/Pastor

Daniel has been an Elder and Pastor at BVCC since 2004. He has known Jesus since he was ten years old, however, he was born again April 5, 1993. He was invited to BVCC in May of 1993. BVCC originally served as a place of healing for Daniel after suffering a divorce that left him wounded and broken. God healed Daniel in this place and set him on the destiny He had for him.

Betty, that "someone" who invited Daniel to BVCC, became his bride in March of 1994. They both became active in body life and his original place of ministry was operating the sound board for the Worship Team. In 1995, he and Betty stepped into another place of ministry as the Care Ministry Coordinators. In July of 2004 Daniel accepted the invitation to join the leadership team as an Elder. He and Betty are humbled and honored to serve Jesus and this congregation!

Daniel graduated from Boise State University with a degree in English Literature. He is currently employed at KIVI (6 On Your Side) in Television Ad Sales. He and Betty have 5 children between them, 13 grandchildren and one great grandson. In Daniel's spare time he enjoys fly fishing in the outdoors, reading and watching old movies and musicals.
