Deacons

Marti Darrow
Administration, Barnabas Fund, Hospitality
Marti has been attending BVCC since 1999. The most exciting
story she has to share is one of God's patience and her salvation. After
looking for fulfillment in all the wrong places most of her life, on
January 1, 1999, she finally admitted that she just could not find what
was missing in her life. Four days later, Marti's neighbor, Dan ran
into her fence, one thing led to another, and she not only received
Jesus as her Lord and Savior, but she also ended up marrying Dan.
Marti has been a Deacon since 2003 and currently serves as the Deacon
Chairperson, overseeing all the Deacons and their various duties. Marti
enjoys serving her church family in the area of hospitality, keeping
in mind that families should take every opportunity to share a meal
together. It doesn't hurt that she's a splendid cook as well, having
run her own catering business for several years. She is also part of
the Barnabas Fund Team. Marti enjoys anything that has to do with horses
and Dan enjoys anything that has to do with Caterpillar equipment.

Dan Clements
Buildings and Grounds
Dan was born in Mountain Home, Idaho and has lived in
Idaho most of his life. God's hand was evident in Dan's life for most
of his life however the evidence of God's work has begun to show itself
in the last ten years. When he cried out to God he got an answer and
placed his feet on solid ground. Dan has been an alcoholic since age
12 up until he was 40. He knew if he continued the way he had been,
it would kill him. He had to make a conscious choice to live. In the
depth of darkness, he cried out to the Living God and his life was changed
forever.
Dan is a woodworker at heart and spends much of his time studying the
Word and refinishing beautiful antique furniture. He and his wife Kathy
travel around the West to antique shows buying and selling antiques.
They have been married 31 years and God continues to do miracles in
their lives as they pursue relationship with Him in their daily lives.
Dan started attending BVCC in November of 2003. He and his wife, Kathy,
were looking for a place to plug in and call home. They have made a
home for themselves in Boise for the last 20 years and have been faithfully
serving the Lord during their time at BVCC.
Matt Hyde
Administration & Worship Service
Matt was born in Big Sky, Montana and moved to Boise in
1988. He attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and graduated
with a degree in Sociology and Human Services. He came back to Boise
after college in 2002 and began spending time with an old high school
friend Monica. The one area of her life he knew nothing about was her
faith. He had no desire to know God and did not even believe there was
a God. Upon following her to church a couple of times, something began
to happen in his heart. God used Monica to soften his heart. He was
saved after a growth group in January of 2004 when he made Jesus the
Lord of his life. The more he heard about God the more he realized his
life would never be the same. Matt and Monica were married in September
of 2004 and have been serving on the Youth Ministry Team for three years.
He has great faith in God's ability and desire to change lives as he
personally experienced God's power in his life. He was a drug addict
and loathed religion of any kind. He has learned that forgiveness is
for everyone and restoration began when he took accountability for the
mistakes he had made.
Matt has had a number of mentors who have poured into him in the last
four years and he recently completed a year long leadership training
course with seven other men from BVCC. Shortly after that he became
a committed disciple (member) and planted himself in as many classes
and groups as possible with his future wife.
Matt loves spending time with his wife and son, Liam, and enjoys skiing,
writing and playing soccer.
Matt's testimony is told in a book that BVCC published called The Ticket
along with several other members of BVCC. Those whose stories are told
are just a few of the many lives at BVCC that will never be the same
because of their relationship with Jesus.

David McKee
Worship Service
Dave has gone to church for most of his life, but he had
never experienced a spiritual second birth unto Christ (John 3:16).
One Sunday night after the service, their pastor and his wife took Dave
and his wife, Alice, to coffee. They talked about God, Jesus and the
Holy Spirit. As they were leaving, the pastor told them to go home that
night and kneel at the foot of their bed and ask Jesus into their hearts.
They did and when they got up they knew that they had met the King of
Kings. This was the most significant "out for coffee" he has
ever had the privilege of attending.
One of Dave's hobbies is spending time with his 9 grandkids and 6 great
grandkids. He and his wife, Alice, have been attending BVCC since 1999
and have been faithfully serving in any capacity they are able.

Mike Norell
Miscellaneous
Mike Norell has been a part of Christian Communion since
1976. He was born and raised in Nampa and went to church at a very early
age, but now feels he had no idea then, as a Christian Scientist, who
God really was. In approximately 1976, after attending a few services
with his wife, he picked up a disabled hitchhiker and gave him a ride
back to Boise College (now BSU). The hitchhiker gave Mike a copy of
the Gospel of John which he eagerly read 2-3 times during the week before
getting together again with the man. With two small children and big
financial problems Mike knew there had to be more to life, and in desperation
turned to the one who is the source of life - Jesus, the way, the truth
and the life. Mikes life was changed 180 degrees and has improved
by staying in Gods Word and sticking close to the church and the
people of God.
There have been many bumps in the road, but with Jesus
Mike feels life is a blast. In fact, Mike isnt sure he would even
be alive if he hadnt accepted Jesus into his life! Mike enjoys
extreme sports and is an avid kayaker.

John Ostolasa
Building and Grounds & Worship Service
John has attended BVCC since 1995. He became a committed
disciple (member) in 2005. He says he was a pew potato for 10 years
before the Father woke him up. John received the Holy Spirit on March
16th, 2004 in a Bible study group. John is involved in several different
ministries including Men's Ministry Team, he and his wife Cheré
teach Sunday school class for 3rd and 4th grade students, and Care Ministry.
John enjoys camping and riding ATV's with Cheré. He and Cheré
have been married since 1991. They have two children, Codye and Aurora.
He is an electrician by trade. He and Cheré continue to pursue
the Lord in their lives and His work is visible in the change they have
experienced.

Becky Wingett
Barnabas Fund
Becky and family came to BVCC in 1996. She and her husband,
Steve, have raised three daughters and a son. They are also blessed
to have six beautiful grandchildren.
She was born and raised in Boise and Her father was a major league baseball
player. Every summer her mother would pack Becky, her brothers and sister
to go live in Chicago, Philadelphia or Saint Louis to be with their
father during the baseball season.
Becky became a Christian at 14, the night she attended a crusade where
Nicky Cruz presented the Gospel. After she heard Nicky's own incredible
story of gang violence, drugs, and crime, he shared about a man who
loved him and led him to God. It was that night that Becky knew she
had found the truth about God and went to the altar to receive Jesus
as her Savior.
Becky attended BSU and studied in the medical health field and served
in a ministry called Young Life. She meet Steve there and soon after
they were married and started a family. As they raised their family,
she was always interested in the health and well being of the lives
of people. She worked in a hospital, and volunteered as a labor and
delivery coach for unwed teens at Booth Memorial.
Her desire to serve people in crisis grew and she sought training to
become a crisis counselor, for Tree of Life Crisis Pregnancy Center,
Reach Out Crisis Hotline, and The Red Cross. Steve and Becky were able
to give emergency shelter in their home over the years to men and women
who had become homeless, ill or were refugees. More recently one of
her dreams to be trained to serve in the mission field was realized.
She attended Mercy in Actions' School for Mission Medics. She studied
primary health care techniques and diseases in developing countries.
Four months of her training was in remote areas of the Philippines.
There she witnessed the conditions of the poorest of the poor, but also
the joy of the Lord in the most difficult of situations.
Steve and Becky enjoy time celebrating with friends and family and weekends
at the cabin, music, and travel whenever they can.
