BVCC Deacons...
Doug Shelby
Areas of Responsibility: Chair Elect, Community
Term expires: January 2013
Doug is an Idaho native and grew up in Boise and Mountain Home. In 1992 Doug attended BSU and completed an apprenticeship program to become a chef. After 10 years in food service he decided that wasn’t for him and he moved on to other ventures. In 2006 he started Cornerstone Painting and has been painting ever since. Also in 2006 Doug completed Vineyard Leadership Institute’s training program.
Doug has been at BVCC since 2002. He was saved when he was 21, but he felt God’s presence as a youth and remembers talking with God, telling God that he was not ready yet to commit his life. Once life’s trials took hold of Doug as a young adult, he gave in. The Lord affects Doug through daily life as he spends time talking with God, listening to His still quiet voice, even in simple seemingly unimportant things.
At BVCC Doug has worked with the kids & youth, Project Catch, served as a deacon, and went on a missions trip to Gulf of Mexico. Out side of church Doug has participated in outreaches involving live drama & skits and also did some work at the Boise Rescue Mission. He would love to have opportunities to help orphan children in third world countries and do missions in the USA and abroad.
Doug met his wife Jennifer at BVCC. They had both previously been married and found healing from divorce in the redeeming love of Jesus. They started a new adventure together and were married on Valentines Day 2009. Doug has 2 daughters, Deandre and Amanda, and a step son Dylan. When not serving in ministry, Doug enjoys long hikes, camping, gardening, watching documentaries, and experiencing new foods and other cultures.
