Becky and family came to BVCC in 1996. She and her husband, Steve, have raised three daughters and a son. They are also blessed to have six beautiful grandchildren.
She was born and raised in Boise and her father was a major league baseball player. Every summer her mother would pack Becky, her brothers and sister to go live in Chicago, Philadelphia or Saint Louis to be with their father during the baseball season.
Becky became a Christian at 14, the night she attended a crusade where Nicky Cruz presented the Gospel. After she heard Nicky's own incredible story of gang violence, drugs, and crime, he shared about a man who loved him and led him to God. It was that night that Becky knew she had found the truth about God and went to the altar to receive Jesus as her Savior.
Becky attended BSU and studied in the medical health field and served in a ministry called Young Life. She met Steve there and soon after they were married and started a family. As they raised their family, she was always interested in the health and well being of the lives of people. She worked in a hospital, and volunteered as a labor and delivery coach for unwed teens at Booth Memorial.
Her desire to serve people in crisis grew and she sought training to become a crisis counselor, for Tree of Life Crisis Pregnancy Center, Reach Out Crisis Hotline, and The Red Cross. Steve and Becky were able to give emergency shelter in their home over the years to men and women who had become homeless, ill or were refugees. More recently one of her dreams to be trained to serve in the mission field was realized. She attended Mercy in Actions' School for Mission Medics. She studied primary health care techniques and diseases in developing countries. Four months of her training was in remote areas of the Philippines. There she witnessed the conditions of the poorest of the poor, but also the joy of the Lord in the most difficult of situations.
Steve and Becky enjoy time celebrating with friends and family and weekends at the cabin, music, and travel whenever they can.
